  • A typical day for a lifeguard starts with arriving at the pool and checking in with their supervisor. They'll then begin their shift by conducting a visual inspection of the pool and its surroundings, ensuring that everything is in order and that there are no potential hazards that could put swimmers at risk. Once the pool is open to the public, the lifeguard will take up their position on the pool deck, maintaining a constant vigilance to ensure that everyone in the pool is safe and following the rules. Lifeguards may be required to perform water rescues if necessary, or provide first aid or CPR in the event of an emergency. Throughout their shift, lifeguards are responsible for monitoring the water chemistry, maintaining the cleanliness of the facility, and greeting and assisting patrons as needed. The lifeguard's shift will typically last several hours, during which time they must remain alert and focused on ensuring the safety of everyone in and around the pool.
